Unhelpful Advice
a beginner's guide
Sometimes in life when you get older, people come to you with their problems.
Now they might think they only need a shoulder to cry on. But don’t let that discourage you from hitting them with some random advice on how you think they should live their lives.
The key is to keep it sharp, simple and straightforward. Ask yourself “What is the first thing anyone would think of in this situation?”
Then proudly present that as a noble solution that surely they would never think of if it wasn’t for your wisdom.
Let them know it’s not about them. Shift the focus from their problem into some of your own. Then take your time explaining why your problems are better than theirs.
Don’t say anything they haven’t already heard, but feel free to give it a new twist.
Make them feel tiny. Do you remember how they peed their pants when they were two? This might be your chance to bring that up again.
Keep going until they are noticeably agitated. Then shift gears and gently tell them you’re only trying to help.
Lastly, keep an eye out for future opportunities. There is always someone around the corner who needs your help, and it’s your duty to be there for them.

When I was your age I was older! 🤣🤣🤣
You wouldn't believe how many times people have told me, after seeing my illustrations on my website or in person: "You should publish a book!' Have you thought about it?"
Haha!! So good. I was certainly older when I was their age.
